7E: Regional Best Practices: Communication, Collaboration, and Coordination – Anticipating/Preparing for a Black Swan Event Part 1

Thursday, December 07 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Room: 351 E
The largest petrochemical complex in the Western Hemisphere (2nd largest in the world) includes the Regional Port Complex of Houston, Texas City, Galveston and Freeport. Nowhere else on the planet is there such a convergent potential of economic, environmental, and infrastructure dislocation due to the effects of a prospective high consequence crisis event, an event with likely national level effects. CLEAN GULF provides the perfect opportunity to share some of the Region’s Best Practices currently used. Short presentations regarding each of the segment responsibilities used in crafting this regional picture will be made by the panel participants. They will focus on integrated responsibilities highlighting communication, collaboration and coordination. These back-to-back sessions will examine the ground-breaking practices used in this region to create an integrated common operating picture among potential stakeholders during any All-Threat, All-Hazard Event. The success of these practices will be illustrated by case studies of some high-profile potential risk or response events (Hurricane Harvey in particular) to illustrate these collaborative efforts.
